Stick to the pizza....it seems that we were not the only table dis-please and disappointed with our food. The shrimp tasted very much like metal or dish water and the steak's consistency was that of meatloaf. The lobster tail was well over market price ( yes I would know) for a dried out piece of shell fish, the chowder had less taste than a can of cambell's I'm not entirely sure how this place has stayed open for so very long...perhaps its because of the pizza, and if that is the case then advertise just that. By any means please do not advertise American and Italian cuisine when you have not educated yourself on what that really means. On a positive note... The service was pleasant. Not attentive...I did see the owner visiting tables he obviously already was acquainted with (perhaps return customers) and a total aloofness to new faces and the overall experience most tables where having. This was a Friday night and not as busy as I expected which hinders no excuse for a "how is everything? or How is your food? question from either our own server or any other Front of house employee. Honestly this is not a corporate restaurant, so take some pride in your product instead of seeming complacent in something that has long seen its days of glory.
You get one star because My daughter seemed to like your "Elementary school" style murals.

Friends recommended I should try this place. I was skeptical at first, it was kind of hard to find and the dining room looked old fashioned. The service was really good and everyone was friendly. But the food was by far the best part. The breadsticks were phenomenal, fresh out of the oven. I had the lasagna and loved it. My husband went with the NY strip steak and says it was the best steak he has had in years. Not really what I expected from an Italian place but a pleasant surprise. We tried the canolli for dessert. Wow!!! And the price wasn't bad at all compared to some of the chains I've been to.
