Provided by SuperpagesWe were super lucky when we accidently walked into this restaurant for sushi. Their sashimi is the best (and biggest) of all places I have ever tried (Chicago, Atlanta, New York). The price is cheap considering the taste and satisfaction afterwards. The restaurant is small, yet cozy and authentic. As we walked in, we saw that the majority customers were Japanese, we knew we were in the right place. We went there on Monday night and cars are packed outside the restaurant. You definitely must try this restaurant if you are a true sushi eater.

Provided by Superpagesyummie yummie. I highly recommend this sushi spot. The sushi chef is friendly and cuts you fat pieces of sashimi. The cooked food is also delicious. Make sure to order the yaki soba and agedashi tofu.

Provided by SuperpagesA small but cozy Japanese restaurant, Kyushu is a local favorite. Getting a table at lunch is often a chore but well worth the wait. The sushi is outstanding, always fresh with nice sized portions and excellent cuts, and the same sushi chef prepares your food for you every day. Be prepared for an open kitchen and small dining area but definitely the best sushi spot in Virginai Beach.

Provided by SuperpagesToo many Japanese restaurants modify their flavors for the local market but not these folks. The flavors are all just like they are in Japan. Many people want "Chicken Teriyaki" served in the manner of TGIF or other chain restaurants and this place just doesn't do that. Service is quick and it is one of the few (FEW!) Japanese restaurants in the area where people can actually speak Japanese. I called over a dozen places looking for a new place to eat and I spoke only Japanese on the phone. Kyushu was one of the few that could answer all my questions about the food service. Washoku items as well as the regular US Japanese restaurant fare. Too many Japanese restaurants here are judged by other restaurants run by Chinese and Korean operators. If you want an authentic, Southern Japanese food experience, come to Kyushu.

Provided by SuperpagesAfter two dinners, I was left unimpressed. The Chicken Teriyaki had an "unusual" flavor and texture (like eating undercooked chicken skin). The Maki sushi dinner tasted like the seafood was going bad, and the rice had off putting sickly sweet taste. The service was terribly slow, as well, for a Thursday early evening.
