At our office, our goal is to provide the highest quality dental care to you and your family and help you maintain good oral health. This includes regular cleanings and exams.
X-rays
Oral Cancer Screening
The teeth and gums will be inspected for signs of decay or damage, and the development of oral diseases such as gum disease. Digital x-rays may be a part of the exam; they are normally taken once a year. An oral cancer screening may also be a part of the exam. Following the cleaning, your dentist will stop in to discuss any issues that may have come up and your oral health in general.

Teeth Cleaning
At Wasco Family Dental, you can find a variety of treatments available for your children. These include routine exams and cleanings and simple restorative treatments like dental fillings and crowns. You can also find emergency dental services at our office in Canal Fulton. Children are generally fairly active and can easily be affected by an oral injury, especially if they are involved in sports.

Resin Composite
Bonding does not require any special preparation or anesthesia (unless the bonding is being used to fill a decayed tooth). Your dentist will first choose the composite resin color that matches the color of your tooth most closely. He or she will then slightly etch the surface of the tooth to roughen it; this helps the bonding material to adhere better to the tooth surface. A conditioning liquid will be used to coat the tooth lightly. This further helps the bonding material to adhere. The bonding is applied as a tooth-colored, putty-like resin. It will be molded and smoothed until it is the desired shape and size, then hardened with an ultraviolet light or laser. Once it has been hardened, your dentist will trim and shape it, then polish it until the bond matches the look of the neighboring teeth. The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete (for one tooth; additional teeth may require separate appointments).
Veneers
Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells that are attached to the front of the teeth to change their appearance. They are custom-made and help to improve the look of a smile. At our office, we aim to provide our patients with a smile that they’ll love.

Bridges
If you have one or more missing teeth, a dental bridge could be the solution to restoring your smile. This fixed dental prosthetic literally bridges the gap where the teeth are missing. Dental bridges are made up of the false tooth/teeth, called the pontic, that is anchored to abutment teeth. At our office, the pontic can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials.
Dental Bonding
If you have a damaged tooth, bonding could be a good solution to restore it. At our office, we can use dental bonding to repair decayed, chipped, fractured, or discolored teeth. Unlike veneers, which are custom-made in a dental laboratory, bonding can be completed in one dental visit.

Root Canal Treatment
Cavities are small holes that form in the teeth as a result of bacteria attacking the teeth enamel. Usually, a cavity is treated with a dental filling, which removes the decay and builds up the tooth structure again with a biocompatible material. However, if the decay has gotten too deep in the tooth, it begins to threaten the dental pulp. This soft core of the tooth contains the blood vessels and nerves. If the decay reaches the pulp, an abscess could form. To prevent this from happening, a root canal treatment will be necessary.

Deep Cleaning
At our office, we offer several treatments to address periodontal disease. The early stage of the disease, called gingivitis, is usually reversible with one or two professional cleanings. This helps to clean out the bacteria in and around the gums and, with increased diligence of daily oral hygiene habits, can return the gums to a healthy state. Another treatment is a scaling and root planing, also known as a deep cleaning. This treatment is a more thorough cleaning, reaching into and cleaning out the periodontal pockets as well as the areas above the gum line. More advanced cases of periodontal disease will require surgical treatment. Periodontal pocket reduction, gum graft surgery, and dental implants are some surgical procedures available to treat gum disease.

Bridges and dentures are very effective solutions for missing teeth. It can be very inconvenient to have missing teeth, as you lose some ability to eat and speak, and these dental prosthetics restore both function and appearances.

Periodontists are dental specialists who are experts in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. They are also trained in cosmetic periodontal procedures. Cases of periodontal disease can range from mild gingivitis to more severe periodontitis, and periodontists offer a wide range of treatments. Procedures such as scaling and root planing, root surface debridement, and regenerative procedures are all treatments that can help to restore the gums back to health. Occasionally, a surgical procedure may be needed for patients with severe gum disease. Periodontists can also handle the placement, maintenance, and repair of dental implants.
