Nonna's Chicago Bistro

Nonna's was recommended to me by a friend. I tried it, went back again, and look forward to my next visit, From the crispy, garlicy, parmesan bread to the coffee which actually tasted like coffee, the food was outstanding on both occasions. The portions were generous and the presentation was attractive without being pretentious. The first time I went, I had the ravioli with asparagus which was creamy and smooth with a sauce that was tasty but not so strong as to overwhelm the asaparagus. On my second visit, I had the chicken parmegiana which was highly flavoured and tender - the crisp vegetables on the side added texture and colour to the dish. This is a tiny restaurant (- there are no more than 7 or 8 tables - and it has a warm atmosphere, enhanced by the friendliness of tthe staff and the murals of things Italian. Nonna herself was present on both occasions, overseeing everything, which no doubt accounts in large part for the high quality of both cuisine and service,

sauces are really yummy, chicken with artichokes in white sauce is fantastic, not too heavy. The bread is to die for! only one complaint, noodles can be overcooked.
