Oral Cancer Screening
Your appointment will begin with an oral cancer screening, periodontal assessment, occlusal analysis, X-rays, and a tooth-by-tooth exam. Based on the findings, Dr. Katz will recommend a treatment course to correct any problems and optimize your dental health. Teeth Cleaning
Fluoride Treatment
After making yourself comfy in our operatory chair, we’ll place protective coverings over your lips and gums. Then we’ll apply the Zoom!® Whitening gel to your teeth. The active ingredient in the gel is a pH-balanced hydrogen peroxide. A special low-heat light will activate the gel. It will penetrate the enamel and dentin in your teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration. Afterwards, we will apply a fluoride treatment to complete the one-hour procedure. That’s it – in and out. Zoom!®
Dental Sealants
Some patients experience mild and temporary post-placement sensitivity from composite resin fillings. The only caution we usually mention is that coffee, tea, and other staining foods and beverages may discolor your composites unless you ask to have them coated with a clear plastic sealant.

Fillings
Some dentists do not place amalgams, and many patients prefer tooth-colored composite, porcelain, or ionomer fillings to the silver of amalgams. An obvious reason is aesthetics. Made of metals, an amalgam stands out against naturally white teeth. When a person smiles, laughs, or speaks, amalgam fillings may show. Tooth-colored fillings matched to a pateint’s natural tooth shade make the fillings blend seamlessly in a white, bright smile.
Resin Composite
If you're embarrassed about your smile because of decay or dark fillings in your teeth, you may be a good candidate for composite resins. A silicon dioxide-filled, tooth-colored plastic mixture, composite resins can restore teeth to an attractive, healthy state. Root Canal Treatment
The study was especially concerning for researchers since most people reach for a cola or sports drink when they are thirsty or dehydrated. Normally, saliva helps neutralize acids like those in cola and sports drinks, but saliva levels are the lowest when you are dehydrated. Continual drinking of these beverages, especially when you’re thirsty, can erode teeth to the dentin, the layer below enamel, and cause pain and sensitivity in your teeth. When left unchecked, the erosion can cause a nerve infection and lead to the need for root canal therapy.

Oral Surgery
Lasers have transformed medical surgery by offering minimally-invasive alternatives to traditional scalpel incisions and sutured closures. The laser's intense, narrow wavelength has precise, predictable, and powerful reactions when it contacts hard or soft tissues of the body. Laser light is extremely efficient, producing very little heat as it acts on its target. This makes it ideal for oral surgery, since it seldom affects tissues other than those it targets. The laser provides precise control over the depth and extent of cutting, while simultaneously minimizing bleeding and sterilizing the treatment area.
Bone Grafting
The Waterlase can remove decay and prepare teeth for fillings, and it can also perform root canals, bone grafting, re-contouring (reshaping) of “gummy” smiles, and many general soft tissue procedures – and the benefits are bountiful. The Waterlase does not emit heat and vibration like conventional drills, and this makes treatment so comfortable that often, anesthesia injections are not necessary. It also provides pinpoint accuracy, effectively performing procedures without damaging surrounding tissues. The Waterlase has proven effective for many soft-tissue procedures, such as periodontal therapy, crown lengthening, and soft tissue biopsies. Patients can expect minimal, if any, recovery time afterwards because laser dentistry therapy causes less trauma, bleeding, and swelling than traditional surgery.
