Overall

Don't do business with these jerks. We reserved a room for a family reunion in June. It was 105 and they had no A/C in the building they put us in and were not in the least apologetic about it. They made an incompetent attempt to put in an undersized A/c unit but the guy putting it in didn't even pretend to care how poor a job he did. Management never showed once to see if we were satisfied. Promised items were not provided. The food was mediocre; the talent less so. The building the put our group in was in poor repair (missing doorknobs, etc) Generally a fairly rundown place with a bunch of rundown "talent". I've been all over the SW and never saw such a sorry excuse for a "working ranch" as they so proudly call it. This is just a bunch of shysters out to make money off of tourists.

If I could, they would get a negative number of stars. I went there for a July 4th show several years ago. I agree the show was boring and the food was just ok. Several people, including myself wanted seconds, but we didn't even have time to eat the first plate of food. I went there about 8-9 years ago, and it was the same boring show. Never again! I would go to Barleens Arizona Opry before Rockin' R Ranch. At least they change their shows several times a year!

Pecos

My comment is not so much about Rockin' R Ranch, But a so called cowboy named Pecos that was more interested in making a buck that he allowed one of his draft horses ( Billy was the horses name) to be used on one of the hottest days to pull a wagon ride and the end results were that Billy died on that day back in 2006 i believe it was, The horse got over heated and collapsed he shouldn't have been pulling that wagon alone, there were usually more than one horse pulling those heavy wagons but Billy was the only horse he had left that wasn't lame. Ofcourse Pecos tried to blame it on someone else, he claimed that the horse was poisoned by somebody and called the police in even, and they said that horse died of being over heated. It was a damn shame because Billy was a very intelligent animal and his lead horse that gave his all that day.

This is no reflections on the owners and others that work at Rockin'R Ranch matter of fact I went to The Ben Johnson's Days rodeo there years before this happened and had a great time.

I just think that all should know that Pecos puts on a good act but he is a snake in the grass and does not represent a true cowboy in any shape or form and doesn't belong working at a place that represents the old west.
