Teeth Cleaning
Fluctuating hormone levels throughout your pregnancy can make the gums tender and increase the risk of bleeding when flossing, brushing, and eating. Regular dental cleanings are essential throughout pregnancy because we need to do whatever we can to reduce the risk of periodontal disease.

Fillings
Crowns
Occlusal, or bite, adjustment is a procedure performed to remove tiny interferences that keep teeth from coming together properly. These interferences can prevent the jaw from closing in its anatomically correct position. Interferences can occur as teeth develop, following an injury, or they can accumulate over time with wear. Dental treatment such as fillings, crowns, bridges, and extractions can also cause interferences. Interferences can prevent the jaw from fully sliding into its anatomically correct position. This means that the muscles of the jaw and neck are never able to fully relax. This may result in severe headaches, neck aches, and tooth pain. Many patients may develop bruxism, or teeth grinding, as their jaw seeks its natural position. Bruxism can cause loss of tooth structure and receding gums. It may also necessitate the need for dental treatment if the teeth are affected severely enough. Over time, patients may develop temporomandibular joint (TMJ) issues if interferences go untreated.
Bridges
The bone and gum tissue should fit together like a turtleneck around your neck. When gum disease is present, this supporting tissue and bone are destroyed and pockets in between the teeth and gums develop. Eventually, if too much bone is lost as a result of gum disease, the tooth will likely need to be extracted. Guided tissue bone regeneration helps the body to regenerate lost bone. By repairing the damage caused by gum disease, this procedure will increase the chances of keeping your natural teeth by preventing further bone loss and will decrease the odds of serious health problems associated with gum disease. The placement of dental implants may also generate the need for guided tissue regeneration. An implant requires a sufficient amount of bone for support. For those patients that would benefit from replacing missing teeth with dental implants, guided tissue regeneration may first be recommended by your doctor. When a fixed bridge is placed, the bone under the pontic, or middle, portion of the bridge where the tooth has been lost has a tendency to sink and can affect the overall facial structure. Guided tissue regeneration can be used to repair the esthetics of the bone under the bridge, adding support for the facial structures to remain in attractive form.

Periodontal Surgery
It is common to have some bleeding or oozing during the first one to two days following periodontal surgery. A pink discoloration to your saliva is normal, however, bright red blood is not to be expected.
Deep Cleaning
The general steps of scaling and root planing treatment may include a local anesthetic to numb the areas that will be treated. Your doctor may suggest a form of sedation, if necessary. The treatment often requires hand instruments and an ultrasonic tool to remove the plaque and calculus accumulation. Your doctor or dental hygienist will use the instruments below the gum line to clean the roots of your teeth and smooth any rough surfaces. The goal of this deep cleaning process is to clear away plaque and tartar as well as smooth the surfaces of the teeth to encourage the gum tissues to reattach to the teeth.

Dentures
Teeth do more than just help us chew our food and speak. They actually serve to stimulate the bone in the jaw. Each time you chew, the teeth stimulate the bone. Without this natural stimulation, the alveolar bone, which is the portion of the jaw bone that anchors teeth in the mouth, begins to break down and is resorbed by the body. If there are no longer teeth present that need the jaw bone, the bone deteriorates and disintegrates. The rate of deterioration varies per person, however, it begins almost immediately after a tooth is lost or removed and continues throughout life. Once deterioration reaches a certain point, dental prosthetics, such as dentures, may no longer be useful if there is not enough bone to support them. A doctor can help to determine if you have suffered any bone loss. If you have experienced bone loss that is too far gone to be addressed with gum disease treatment, your doctor can discuss tooth replacement options during your consultation.

Dental Implants

He stayed at the University of Tennessee for training in periodontal and implant therapy. Oral Surgery
Flap Surgery
Osseous surgery, or flap surgery, is usually performed when periodontal pockets around a tooth (or teeth) have not responded to other treatments. Also known as pocket depth reduction, this procedure is performed in order to create a clean environment around the tooth so that it can be retained rather than lost. The goal of osseous surgery is to reduce or eliminate periodontal pocketing. Osseous surgery is generally recommended after other treatments have been explored and attempted, and is usually performed when pocket depths have worsened over time or have not responded to other therapies.
Gum Surgery
If you have any signs of gingival recession, we may recommend gum surgery with PST™ to improve your smile. This is a minimally invasive procedure with a fast recovery time and patients enjoy immediate results. It can be an attractive alternative to traditional gum surgery because there is little to no trauma to the gum tissue.
Osseous Surgery
Osseous surgery (or flap surgery) is performed on patients who have moderate or advanced periodontal disease.   Typically, flap surgery is performed after scaling and root planing has been attempted but has not been successful in treating existing periodontal disease.
Tooth Extractions
Dental extractions are performed for a variety of reasons, including tooth decay, injury, infection, and for orthodontic treatment. Extractions are a relatively common procedure in most dental offices. The difficulty of the procedure varies depending on the case and the patient, however anesthesia is used to numb the area and prevent discomfort during the procedure.
Ridge Augmentation
There are two types of ridge augmentation procedures: soft tissue and hard tissue. Occasionally, both types of ridge augmentation are performed at once. Healing time varies by patient and the size of the area repaired, but generally lasts between four and six months.
Bone Grafting
Next, the surface of the bone will be smoothed. Bacteria that are trapped in the pockets around the tooth can destroy bone tissue, making it uneven and rough. In order to ensure proper healing, smoothing the bone of these rough surfaces is necessary. Bone grafting procedures are sometimes performed if defects in the bone need to be filled.
