Epilepsy
I feel like I’ve always known I wanted to help people; it wasn’t necessarily occupational therapy. It wasn’t until I interviewed someone who had epilepsy that was working as an occupational therapist and was very rewarding. I did some research and found out what the job was like and determined it was a good fit for me. I was 21 years old when I found out I wanted to help in a therapeutic way.

Charles Oliver serves as the Clinical Supervisor at Communicare Michigan. On top of the supervisory role, he also is a treating mental health clinician. He has experience in treating trauma, mood disorders (i.e., anxiety, depression), cognitive disorders, personality disorders, and substance abuse. Additionally, he has experience in psychological testing and health psychology. Charles earned his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in psychology in 2016. He continued his education to earn a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology in 2017, from the Michigan School of Psychology. Currently, he is completing a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) degree, also from the Michigan School of Psychology. Charles’ past clinical experience has been in differing settings including hospitals, community mental health, and private practice. His theoretical treatment is derived from both cognitive behavioral and humanistic approaches. Lastly, Charles is open with working with all forms of disorders, ages, genders, and races.

Prior to Rob’s current role he has been practicing Physical Therapy for over 20 years in multiple settings including acute hospital care, Inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient settings serving all age groups, home health care and sub-acute rehab settings. He has supervised multiple staff and students, educated, and trained new staff, instructed staff in CPR, assisted in developing outpatient clinics. He attended Michigan State University receiving a degree in Communication and a minor in Psychology and the University of Michigan receiving a Master of Physical Therapy. In his personal life you’ll find him biking, heading up north with his two girls and enjoying a relaxing time around a BBQ.
Occupational Therapy
Mishka obtained her Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Global Health from the University of Michigan, then went on to pursue her Master of Occupational Therapy Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Since joining the CMI team, she has sought to provide the most evidence based and holistic care to our clients by becoming a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, as well as a Certified Sensory Enhanced Yoga Practitioner for Self-Regulation and Trauma Healing. An optimistic, life-long learner, Mishka believes in helping her clients find joy and wellness through engagement in a well-balanced occupational life.
Manual Therapy
Rob Parent serves as the Physical Therapist at Communicare Michigan serving clients with a variety of physical impairments including balance dysfunctions, gait difficulties, weakness in limbs or trunk, coordination impairments and high fall risks stemming from a motor vehicle accident or other neurological diseases. He provides training and education on work hardening, general conditioning, pain management, lifestyle modification with manual interventions including joint mobilization, myofascial release, soft-tissue mobilization with the goal to maximize clients’ physical mobility and independence. He is equipped to treat all orthopedic and neurological impairments from all age groups.
