Primary Care
Many insurances require that you choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP) for your child, and may require that you use a specific lab or radiology facility, or set of referral/specialty physicians when needed. Some insurers require preauthorization for certain services or prescriptions. Please contact your insurance company and find out if you have any such restrictions and let us know. Employers choose different insurance coverage, and we may not know the specifics of your insurance plan. It is your responsibility to assure that your insurance and physician assignments are in order when you come to visit us.
Emergency Care
If emergency room services or hospitalization becomes necessary, we coordinate care with the pediatric emergency rooms at Sinai, GBMC and Johns Hopkins.
Immunizations
Arrange for transfer of all immunization records and all prior medical records to our office/your new Doctor. We will need your child’s records in advance of the first visit to be able to deliver the comprehensive care you deserve

Autism
If there are any concerns identified, we offer referral services through Infants and Toddlers, Child Find, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital as well as numerous private therapy providers in and around Baltimore.

We recommend annual visits at which we will check in with your adolescent about how things are at home, at school and with their social life. We will also offer advice to your adolescent about self care, in particular as it relates to their mental health, their sleep habits, their physical health as well as counsel them about avoiding risky behaviors.

Sports Medicine
Sports physicals are largely required by athletic leagues and schools. During this exam, the pediatrician will check your child’s vitals, joints, flexibility, and vision. This gives them an opportunity to flag down any issues that may cause injury during the season. Sports physicals should be given at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the upcoming sports season, giving the child ample time to correct any issues before the season. While a sports physical and an annual school physical have a lot in common, the sports physical does not include evaluation of the overall health of your child. Therefore, a sports physical should not replace a school physical.
